"THE FINAL ACCOUNT" 
Rom. 14:10-12

Introduction:
We are apt to think of God as a great Benefactor, without giving thought to the possibility of having to give an account to Him. The child blissfully enjoys a forbidden pleasure until called before its father for a reckoning. The student enjoys skipping his classes until the day of final exams. Adam enjoyed the forbidden fruit until God said, "Hast thou eaten?"

I.    THERE WILL BE AN ACCOUNTING. 
        1.    God said so.  Rom. 14:11 
        2.    As sure as God lives.  Rom. 14:11 
        3.    As sure as Christ has been raised.  Acts 17:31 
        4.    As sure as death.  Heb. 9:27

II.    DOES US GOOD TO CONSIDER IT SERIOUSLY. 
        1.    Made Felix tremble. Acts 24:25 
        2.    Made Paul's charge to Timothy impressive. 2 Tim. 4:1

Ill. TO WHOM SHALL WE GIVE AN ACCOUNT? 
        1.    To the Son of God. John 5:22 
        2.    Jesus ordained to be Judge. Acts 17:31; 10:42 
        3.    He will be a righteous Judge. 2 Tim. 4:7,8

IV.    WHO SHALL GIVE AN ACCOUNT TO JESUS? 
        1.    Everyone of us. Rom. 14:12;2 Cor. 5:10 
        2.    House of God. I Pet. 4:17,18 
        3.    Elders of the church. Heb. 13:17; Ac. 20:28 
        4.    Wicked. 1 Pet. 4:5; Matt. 7:22,23

V.    FOR WHAT SHALL WE GIVE AN ACCOUNT? 
        1.    Our words. Matt. 12:36; Phil. 1:27;1 Pet. 1:15 
        2.    Our deeds. 2 Cor. 5:10 
        3.    Our failure to do good. Matt. 25:41-6
